My term as NWA President is coming to a close. It has truly been an honor and privilege to serve the NWA in this capacity. I have met and worked with many terrific people and have learned so much through this truly rewarding experience. The NWA continued to thrive in 2017, with a fresh, expanding website, the rollout of new email newsletter content, the growth of the webinar series, important new support for local chapters, extensive advocacy on the issue of GOES frequency interference, and the continued nurturing of the NWA Foundation. We’ve also set the stage for some terrific upgrades to member experiences in 2018, including a new member portal and another exciting and enriching Annual Meeting.
I want extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the many individuals who helped realize these achievements – to Executive Director Janice Bunting, for her expert assistance, leadership, and kindness; to the wonderful support staff of Tanya Schoor and Hulda Johannsdottir, whose contributions helped keep the NWA office chugging along efficiently; to this year’s Commissioners of Committees, Frank Brody and Pat Spoden, for facilitating committee work and communication; to the committees for their tireless energy and enthusiasm; and to the rest of the NWA Executive Committee, Council, including President-Elect Alan Sealls, Vice-President Bill Murray, Secretary Randy Graham, and Treasurer Lans Rothfusz, for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. I also thank all of you – individuals, students, and corporate members – for your membership in the NWA and for your support and contributions as we share and learn together, striving to be the best professional organization we can be. I want to wish all of you a very happy and healthy holiday season and best wishes in the New Year!
