About the Bob Glahn Scholarship in Statistical Meteorology The NWA Bob Glahn Scholarship in Statistical Meteorology is the largest scholarship offered by the NWA. Dr. Harry R. “Bob” Glahn, longtime and recently retired Director of the NOAA/National Weather Service Meteorological Development Laboratory, is providing full funding for a new National Weather Association Scholarship. The NWA Bob Glahn Scholarship has been offered annually since 2012. The idea for this scholarship is to support someone who has a true interest in statistics and might be interested in a career in meteorology related to statistics. Good evidence of this would be some coursework in statistics or probability theory plus an expressed and demonstrated interest in this aspect of the profession.

Application Process: The application process is completed on-line via the link above. Student copies of transcripts are acceptable.  Recommendations are completed on-line as well. SmarterSelect will send an e-mail to to those you select to provide recommendation with instructions on how to submit their recommendation of you.

Applicants should check with the individuals that are providing recommendations that they have indeed submitted on your behalf.

Incomplete applications including lack of recommendations or illegible copies of transcripts will result in the NWA's inability to evaluate your application.
