| Information for Prospective NWA Members... The National Weather Association is an all inclusive, member-led, nonprofit professional association, incorporated in Washington, DC, in 1975 mainly to serve individuals interested in operational meteorology and related activities. It has grown to over 3000 members, 50 corporate members and over 200 subscribers including many colleges, universities and weather service agencies. International members and subscribers number over 50. The NWA supports and promotes excellence in operational meteorology and related activities. It has an annual awards program, scholarships, and offers the NWA Seal of Approval to be earned by Radio/TV Weathercasters to promote standards and quality broadcasting. The NWA also provides Grants to teachers to help improve the education of meteorology for children in grades K-12. The NWA provides opportunities for operational meteorologists, hydrologists, broadcasters, individuals in related operational activities, researchers, students and weather enthusiasts to share studies, techniques, news and more through the monthly Newsletter, the National Weather Digest, the Electronic Journal of Operational Meteorology, the NWA Web site, and in presentations and workshops at the Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting is held in mid-October; other meetings of interest are held throughout the year. See the events and professional development opportunities page for more information. Applications to Join the NWA as an Individual or Corporate Member... You can join the NWA by printing out one of the following forms and mailing the application and dues payment to the NWA office. Each form has a complete list of instructions for joining the NWA as well as the NWA office address. Note the new tiered dues structure for individuals depending on your desire to receive printed or electronic publications. You may also join online at the new Members Only Portal which offers many opportunities for members and prospective members.
